First Colony Breaststroker/Butterflier Alex Fu Sends Verbal to Penn (2022)

Alex Fu of First Colony Swim Team in Texas has verbally committed to the admissions process* at Penn for fall 2022. Fu is a junior at Clements High School.

I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process at the University of Pennsylvania! I’m incredibly blessed to be continuing my academic and athletic careers at a world-renowned institute. I’d like to thank my family, friends, and coaches that have supported me throughout this journey. Go Quakers!!

At the 2021 Texas HS 6A State Championships, Fu placed in the 100 fly A-final, going 49.58 for seventh overall. Nearly all of his lifetime bests have come in the last few months, with most of them happening at the Woodlands Swim Team Mid-Season Invite in early December.

Last season, Fu would’ve ranked #2 on the Penn roster in the 100 fly and #4 in both breaststrokes and the 100 free. At the 2020 Ivy League Championships, Fu would’ve scored in C-finals of the 50/100/200 free and 100/200 breast, while he would’ve tied for the last B-final spot in the 100 fly.

Fu is the first public commitment for the Quaker men for 2022.
