The Pacific Coast Swim Conference (PCSC), a conference made predominantly of Division II schools, is the latest to make the decision to move their championship meet from the ill-fated Belmont Plaza Pool. Whereas the Pac-12 took their conference way north to Seattle, and the MPSF went about 45 minutes north to East Los Angeles College, the PCSC has taken a still-shorter trip north to La Mirarada Splash! Aquatics center in La Mirada, California It’s about 15 minutes north and 15 minutes east of the original Belmont Plaza pool.

La Mirada Splash! is a huge outdoor aquatics complex that has a 50-meter competition pool that is mostly deep (from 6 feet to 13 feet), plus a separate instruction pool and a water park. Whereas many of the other conferences displaced by the Belmont closing sought indoor arrangements, the PCSC has opted for the best outdoor option that they could find.

Splash! is the same facility this meet was moved to last season when Belmont closed, and perhaps is best known as the home of the infamous Ed Moses/Katie Hoff music video above.

Along with this announcement, the PCSC has voted to include Simon Fraser in this year’s championship meet. Simon Fraser is in a bit of an awkward transitional year. They have been admitted as full member of the NCAA’s Division II, the first Canadian school to achieve that status. This year, they had planned to race at the Western Canada Conference meet, but because those times would not have counted for NCAA’s, they were forced to find an alternative at the 11th hour.

There is one Division I school in the PCSC: Pepperdine University, but UC – San Diego is the defending champions of both the men’s and women’s meets. A full list of members are below.

Azusa Pacific, Cal Baptist, and Fresno Pacific are all NCAA DII now. Cal Baptist will be full members next year, while APU and FPU will be full members for the 2014-2015 year.
