PHILADELPHIA – Drexel Men’s Swimming and Diving not only had the seniors to celebrate, it also had the feeling of victory as they pushed through Colonial Athletic Association member Towson, 166-134 Saturday at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
The Dragons (3-1, 2-0 CAA) took 10 events and gathered many second- and third-place finishes as well.
The 200 medley team of Jason Arthur, Zachary Valenzuela, Paris Raptis and John Scully got the Dragons started in their competition day with a time of 1:31.86.
Arthur and Valenzuela each won their share of events with Arthur taking three individual races. He took the gold medal in the 100 back (50.27), the 200 back (1:49.15) and the 400 IM (4:05.94). Valenzuela took first place in the 100 back (57.44) and the 200 breast (2:07.69).
There was a photo finish victory for Paris Raptis in the 200 fly (1:49.46) as he beat his opponent by four tenths of a second. He also took a first-place victory in the 100 fly (48.98).
In the diving events, Anthony Musciano won the 3-meter dive and took second in the 1-meter dive.
Drexel will be traveling to Georgetown next Saturday to face the Hoyas at 12 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA – Drexel Women’s Swimming and Diving pushed its unbeaten streak to a total of four meets as it defeated Colonial Athletic Association member Towson, 165-135 Saturday at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
The Dragons (3-0-1, 2-0-1 CAA) celebrated their senior day, took nine events and gathered many second- and third-place finishes as well.
The 200 medley team of Alexa Kutch, Gabrielle Rudy, Hollie Hopf and Ryann Styer got the Dragons started in their competition day with a time of 1:43.95.
Kutch then went on to take gold in three more events including 100 back (56.11), 200 back (2:03.83) and the 400 free relay (3:33.91) with the team of Styer, Paige Powell and Alicia Diaz.
Rudy had quite the day herself finishing top three in all her events. The Folsom, Pa. native took first in the 100 breast (1:03.05), 200 breast (2:22.07) and took third place in the 400 IM (4:36.98).
In the 50 free, it came down to less than a tenth of a second between Lera Nasedkina and Styer with Nasedkina taking it with a time of 24.00. Styer finished with a time of 24.08.
In the diving events, Hannah Jordan took second place in the 3-meter dive and Katie Caputo took second in the 1-meter dive.
Drexel will be on the road next Saturday against Georgetown at 12 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA- Breaking pool records was the highlight of the day for the Towson University men’s swimming and diving team as they competed at Drexel Saturday afternoon.
Michael Fazio not only won the 200 freestyle (1:39.88) but also broke a pool record inside the Drexel Pool.
Overall, the Tigers fell to Drexel 166-134.
How it Happened
- Nick McClure, Ryan O’Leary, Kenny Afolabi-Brown and Matt Essing came in second in the 200-yard medley relay (1:33.58).
- Drew Munson was victorious in the 1000-yard freestyle finishing with a time of 9:37.53. Matt Kenney came in third (9:50.40).
- Ryan Baldino came in third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.18).
- Trey Adkins was third in the 100-yard backstroke (53.78). Brendan Farrar came in fourth (53.81) and Tommy Whitman (54.37) was fifth.
- Afolabi-Brown saw a second place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a finals time of 58.38. O’Leary took third (58.65).
- McClure came in second in the 200-yard butterfly (1:49.82).
- Essing won the 50-yard freestyle with a winning time of 20.73.
- Will Canny won the 1-meter diving with a score of 302.70.
- Fazio touched the wall second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.34. Essing took third (46.43) and Baldino came in fourth (46.84).
- Farrar came in second in the 200-yard backstroke (1:55.27).
- O’Leary finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:10.77). Nick Fitzwilliam came in third (2:12.19). Jack Lafond was fourth (2:12.92).
- Munson also dominated the 500-yard freestyle winning with a time of 4:41.84. Kenney finished in third (4:45.29).
- McClure came in second in the 100-yard butterfly (50.50).
- Canny scored second in the 3-meter dive (307.05), while Ajani Dorner scored 280.50 finishing in third.
- Patrick Flint finished in third in the 400-yard individual medley (4:12.60) and Hunter Wright came in fourth (4:15.39).
- Towson ended the night winning the final event in the 400-yard freestyle with Fazio, Baldino, Adkins and Essing.

The Tigers are back in Burdick Hall on Friday, Jan. 24 for senior day. Towson will compete against Delaware in a dual-meet, with diving beginning at 2:30 p.m. and swimming starting at 5:30 p.m.
PHILDELPHIA- Qualifying times in diving highlighted the day for the Towson University women’s swimming and diving team as they competed against Drexel Saturday afternoon.
Christina Coleman qualified for NCAA diving zones after winning the 3-meter dive with a score of 274.20. Coleman was also victorious in the 1-meter dive with a score of 279.07.
The Tigers fell to the Dragons 165-135 inside the Drexel pool.
How it Happened
- The quartet of Maddi Mangum, Jacki Schoening, Madison Mince and Annemarie Schnoor finished in second place in the 200-yard medley relay (1:45.93).
- Karlee Carminati saw a second place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:26.35), while teammate Meagan Clark took third (10:32.81).
- Ava Enriquez finished took second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.86). Kayla Reedy (1:57.14) and Katie Nunez (1:57.56) was third and fourth, respectively.
- Mangum came in third in the 100-yard backstroke (58.02), Elise Devlin finished in fourth (58.72).
- Schoening was second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.77).
- It was a 1-2-3 finish in the 200-yard butterfly as Cowan was first (2:05.52), Sarah-Margaret Locke took second (2:06.74) and Andrea Ducar was third (2:10.07).
- Schnoor took a third place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (24.43). Mince finished in fourth (24.73).
- Schnoor won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.01.
- Meghan Jones came in third place in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.10)
- Schoening took third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:23.55).
- Locke was victorious in the 500-yard freestyle winning with a time of 5:04.49. Parker Schulz (5:20.67) came in fourth while Reedy finished in fifth (5:22.10).
- It was a 1-2 punch in the 100-yard butterfly as Cowan came in first (57.17) and Ducar finished in second (58.56).
- Locke also touched the wall first in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:31.39.
- The last event of the afternoon saw the Tigers finishing in second in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Reedy, Mangum, Enriquez and Schnoor took second with a time of 3:34.92.
