In-State Breaststroker Parker Kaye Commits to Tennessee

The University of Tennessee men’s swimming and diving team has done an excellent job keeping top in-state talent from fleeing its borders this season. After receiving verbal commitment from Braedan Leach and Joshua Walsh, the Vols have now picked up a third Tennessean, Parker Kaye.

“I am excited to announce my commitment to swim for the University of Tennessee! Tennessee offers me the opportunity to excel in the classroom and in the pool. I am extremely blessed to have the opportunity to swim for such an amazing program with an incredible coaching staff and team. Go Vols!”

Kaye is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American from Memphis University School. He has swum the 100 breast and 200 IM at all three Tennessee High School State Championships during his high school career, making huge leaps in his junior year.

2016 TISCA Champs 2015 TISCA Champs 2014 TISCA Champs
200 IM 1:55.61 (11th) 1:59.50 (18th) 2:02.19 (21st)
100 breast 58.90 (8th) 1:02.12 (23rd) 1:02.64 (20th)

Moreover, in 2016 he swam a 26.07 breaststroke split on the Memphis University School’s medley relay which won the state title.

Kaye swims year-round for Memphis Thunder Aquatic Club. He dropped 3.8 seconds in his 100m breast this summer at Atlanta Futures and earned a Summer Juniors cut (1:06.01). He also picked up PBs in the 200m breast and 200m IM at the meet. Kaye updated his best SCY times in the 50 free, 200 breast and 200 IM at the 2016 American Short Course Championships in March. His top SCY times are:

  • 100 breast – 58.90
  • 200 breast – 2:08.44
  • 200 IM – 1:54.36

In addition to Leach, Walsh and Kaye, the University of Tennessee class of 2021 will also feature verbal commits Ben Blevins-Boor from California and Stephen Lucht from North Carolina.
