Freestyler Timothy Verby Makes Verbal Commitment to Navy for 2017-18

Timothy Verby, a senior at Oakdale High School in Ijamsville, Maryland, has made a verbal commitment to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis.

Verby and his twin siblings, James Verby and Madeleine Verby, swim for Monocacy Aquatic Club. As a freshman Timothy competed for Oakdale in the Maryland 3A2A1A State Swimming Championships, placing 8th in the 200 free and 9th in the 500 free. Since then he has focused on club swimming. The product of a sprint freestyler mother and distance freestyler father who met on the swim team at the University of Maine, Verby covers the entire range of freestyle events.

His top SCY times include:

  • 50 free – 21.78
  • 100 free – 46.73
  • 200 free – 1:39.81
  • 500 free – 4:30.08
  • 1000 free – 9:27.72
  • 1650 free – 15:55.01

Verby will join the deepest mid-distance and distance free group in the Patriot League when he suits up for Navy next fall. The Midshipmen have dominated the 500 and 1650 freestyles at the Patriot League Championships, including last year when they placed four in the A final of the 500 and went 1-4-5 in the 1650.
