RIVERDALE, NY – The 2016-17 Manhattan College men’s and women’s swimming & diving schedules have been released. The Jaspers will participate in 10 meets during Head Coach Joe Murtha’s first season, starting on Oct. 8, when they take on VMI and host Mount St. Mary’s in the Mountaineers’ inaugural competition.
Manhattan’s first home meet is on Oct. 14, when Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rival Fairfield visits the Ethical Culture Fieldston School. There are five home meets on the Jaspers’ schedule, including a showdown with Marywood on Oct. 22. After a MAAC matchup at Saint Peter’s on Oct. 29, Manhattan returns home for its annual Alumni Meet on Nov. 5. The women’s team will square off with St. Francis Brooklyn, while the men’s squad takes on both the Terriers and NJIT.
On Nov. 19, the Jaspers make their first-ever trip to Monmouth, where they will also face Siena. The annual ECAC Winter Championships will take place from Dec. 2-4 at the Nassau County Aquatic Center on Long Island. Manhattan then wraps up the 2016 portion of the schedule at Fordham on Dec. 7.
After more than a month away from competition, the women’s team returns to action with a home meet against Sacred Heart on Jan. 14. Two days later, the Jasper men and women both face Baruch in the annual Senior Day meet. The Class of 2017 will be recognized prior to Manhattan’s final home competition of the season. The Jaspers then head to Iona for the regular season finale on Jan. 28.
This season’s MAAC Championships return to Erie Community College in Buffalo, NY, from Feb. 8-11. This marks the seventh consecutive season in which the MAAC Championships will be held at the venue.
