On the 62nd day of the Olympic torch relay it finally exited the state of Parana, passing through two cities in Rio Grande do Sul before hitting three different cities in the state of Santa Catarina.

It first stopped in Passo Fundo, a city located in the northern area of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The state is in the southern area of Brazil, with a population of about 195,000. It also stopped in Erechim, also located in Rio Grande do Sul with a population of about 98,000.

The torch then visited four different cities in Santa Catarina, directly north of Rio Grande do Sul. It went through Chapecó (205,000), Concordia (72,000), and São Lourenço do Oeste (22,000). Chapecó and Concordia are both located in the southern region of the state, while São Lourenço do Oeste is in the north, bordering the state of Parana.
