Hoosiers Get Half a Relay with Kirkpatrick Sisters’ Verbal for 2017

Sisters Abby Kirkpatrick and Anna Kirkpatrick each announced via Twitter that they have committed to the Indiana University class of 2021. They are both juniors at James Whitcomb Riley High School in South Bend, Indiana; they also swim for South Bend Swim Club.

Abby Kirkpatrick

Primarily a breaststroker, Abby is a Summer Juniors qualifier in the 100 breast and a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 200 IM and 200 breast. At the 2016 IHSAA Girls Swimming/Diving Championship in February, she dropped a lifetime-best 1:01.95 in prelims of the 100 breast before finishing second in the event in finals. She was also tenth in the 200 IM with 2:04.02, swam breast on Riley’s medley relay (28.60), and split a 53.71 on the 400 free relay. The previous year she was 15th in the 100 fly and 6th in the 100 breast. At the recent Indiana Short Course Championships (SCY in prelims, LCM in finals), Abby was an A finalist in the 100/200 breast and 200/400 IM; she also finaled in the 100 fly and 50 free.

Anna Kirkpatrick

Anna specializes in sprints, and has been a strong relay swimmer for Riley High School. She is a versatile swimmer who can be called on for any number of events. She finished third in both the 50 free and 100 back at the State-qualifying Sectional Meet held at South Bend Riley High School in February, and swam on Riley’s 400 free relay.
