Kelsey Johnstone (Massachusetts), Colleen Kurtz (New Jersey), and Emma Magna (Connecticut) have added their names to the list of Assumption College commits for the 2016-17 season. They join fellow future classmates Abbey Holmes and Sydney LaQue.

Kelsey Johnstone

Johnstone is a senior at Westfield High School in Westfield, Massachusetts. At the MIAA Division I Championships in February, Johnstone tied for third not once, but twice, sharing the bronze medal in both the 200 IM (2:10.70) and 100 back (58.90). She also swam breast on Westfield’s medley relay, and led off the 200 free relay. Johnstone also swims for Greater Westfield YMCA. Her best SCY times are:

  • 50 back – 28.82
  • 100 back – 58.59
  • 200 back – 2:08.66
  • 100 breast – 1:07.80
  • 200 breast – 2:26.20
  • 200 IM – 2:09.48

Johnstone will be an immediate scorer for the Greyhounds. She would have made the A finals in all her top events: 100/200 back, 100/200 breast, and 200 IM.

Colleen Kurtz

Kurtz attends Rutgers Prep School in Somerset, New Jersey. She swims for Scarlet Aquatics in Piscataway. Primarily a distance freestyler, Kurtz had a huge summer season, dropping 8 seconds in the 200 free, 9 in the 400m free, 39 in the 800, and 1 minute and 10 seconds in the 1500. She also knocked 12 seconds off her 200 fly time. If she were to make significant drops like that in her SCY events, Kurtz would be a huge force for the Greyhounds at Horizon League. Her top SCY times are:

  • 200 free – 2:01.63
  • 500 free – 5:16.70
  • 1000 free – 10:59.42
  • 1650 free – 18:44.66

Emma Magna

Magna is a senior at East Lyme High School and was a big part of her school’s third-place finish at the very recent CIAC Class M Swimming and Diving Championships. Magna came in second in the 100 free (54.18) and sixth in the 200 free (1:57.34). She was also part of the third-place 400 free relay and the fifth-place 200 free relay. Magna’s club team is Connecticut Aquatic Club. Her best SCY times are:

  • 50 free – 25.69
  • 100 free – 54.18
  • 200 free – 1;57.34
  • 50 back – 29.46
  • 100 back – 1:02.83
