Raleigh, North Carolina-native Catherine Allen has committed to swim at UNC Asheville next year. Allen is a senior at Sanderson High School and a member of USA Swimming’s Scholastic All-America Team.
“I chose UNC Asheville because it offers a great balance of academics and athletics in a beautiful and fun city, and the team made me feel so welcome. I am excited to be able to contribute to an up-and-coming program in my home state!”
Allen is a two-time North Carolina Cap-8 All-Conference Selection and 500 free champion, and she anchored Sanderson’s 200 free relay at the 2015 NCHSAA 4A State Championships. Allen also swims with the Marlins of Raleigh, where she placed 12th in the 200 LCM fly (2:20.81) at the USAS Swimming Futures Championships in Greensboro last summer. Her best times include:
- 200 yard fly: 2:04.97
- 100 yard fly: 58.29
- 500 yard free: 5:05.99
- 1000 yard free: 10:30.24
Allen will be an immediate-impact player for the Bulldogs at the conference level. She would have scored in the A final of the 200 fly at 2015 CCSA Championships, and in the B finals of the 100 fly and 500 free.
Allen will join Adee Weller, Madison Rogan, and Skylar Rogan in the UNC Asheville class of 2020.
