The first event of the day was the 100 butterfly. Anna Dowgiert was the only swimmer on the women’s side to break a minute with her winning time of 59.89. The men’s race was much stronger, however. Konrad Czerniak, the current world leader in the event a 51.37, cemented his name to the top of the World Rankings with the second fastest time in the world this year as well. He won today’s 100 butterfly with a time of 51.40.

Czerniak was pushed the entire way by Pawel Korzeniowksi, who finished second with a time of 51.71. Korzeniowksi’s time will make the world rankings as the seventh fastest performer this year.

I feel as if Chad Le Clos has peeked. He was 1:52.9 in the 200 fly at London and has he even been under 1:54 since? That was a serious question by the way. I realize most top performances come from the Olympics and worlds is yet to come, but still, is he on a four year taper plan?

Why can this not be found under European news? Which continent does Poland belong to?

Czerniak has been performing consistently well and waiting in the wings for a while now. I wouldn’t be surprised if he makes a move this summer towards the top of the podium.

He has been performing consistently well the past few months. But that also tells me that a good chunk of the time he has been resting. All the while Le Clos has been in heavy training and probably hasn’t shaved in at least 6 months.

My mistake. He probably shaved for Short course worlds, but you get my point

Konrad Czerniak could bother a little Chad le Clos at worlds. But only a little. Like Tom Shields.
The veteran Korzeniowski equals his PB in 51.71.
