Connecticut Breaststroker Becca Titterton Signs at Xavier

Becca Titterton, a three-time All-American breaststroker from Tolland, Connecticut, has signed a letter of intent at Xavier University for the 2015-16 season.

Titterton swims at Suffield Academy and Laurel East Hartford YMCA in Hartford, Connecticut. She is a YMCA National Long Course Championships finalist, and her best times are:

50y breast: 31.39              50m breast: 34.29
100y breast: 1:04.19        100m breast: 1:15.74
200y breast: 2:19.76        200m breast: 2:45.70
200y IM: 2:08.58               200m IM: 2:32.03

Titterton will add strength to the Musketeers’ efforts at Big East conference championships. She has the potential to win both the 100 and 200 breast titles as a freshman, and she should make the A-final of the 200 IM as well. Titterton will be joined by fellow commits Caroline Gaertner and Jenna Wilkes in the class of 2019.

The following is an extract from Suffield’s press release about Titterton’s signing:

Becca had narrowed the list to three schools: Xavier, Cal Poly, and Marist, but made her decision official in a Wednesday, November 12 signing at Suffield. Her swimming coach at Suffield, Andy Lowe, commented: “Becca has been a major force in Suffield’s recent N.E. Prep Division I titles, and she is an outstanding person, student, and athlete at Suffield. Not only has she been a top performer in the pool, she has also starred on the school’s varsity soccer, lacrosse, and track teams during her four year tenure at Suffield. Xavier is getting a great talent and truly wonderful human being in Becca.”

Xavier Head Coach Brent MacDonald said about Becca: “Becca was a phenomenal commitment for us this fall. She will have an immediate impact on our team and in the BIG EAST Conference. There is no question she has a ton of untapped potential from not swimming full time year round. Playing several sports has made her a great all-around athlete, which is something we look for at Xavier. Throughout our recruitment of Becca it became clear that she will move our program to new heights in the pool, in the classroom, and in the community. I can’t wait for her to get to campus next fall!”
