At the 2026 Adam Szmidt Memorial PC Summer Age Group Championships in Morgan Hill, California, 10-year-old Robert Legg of the Pleasanton Seahawks made the most of the stage, taking down the nearly 22-year-old National Age Group Record in the 400 freestyle (LCM).
Legg surged to the win in the event, touching in 4:30.32, a more than seven-second drop in the event from his former best time of 4:37.57, from late June at the NVST Long Course CBA+ meet, which made him the 3rd fastest performer ever in the event for the 10 & Under age group.
His time wiped away the nearly 22-year-old NAG record time set by Adam Hinshaw in 2004, which was officially set on July 28th of that year. Legg is now the fastest 10 & Under swimmer in the event by nearly six full seconds.
Another age group standout, Gabriel Brown, nearly bested that NAG record in June, clocking 4:36.50; that time now sits 3rd all-time in the NAG rankings.
