Audrey Deras from Clayton, North Carolina, has committed to swim and study at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University beginning in the fall. She had originally pledged to Tulane University’s class of 2030.
A breaststroke specialist, Deras trains year-round with Marlins of Raleigh and represents El Salvador internationally.
She swam high school for Corinth Holders High School. At the 2026 North Carolina High School 8A State Championships, she placed 3rd in the 100 breast (1:03.15) and 18th in the 200 IM (2:10.66). Her best time in those events (as well as the 50/200 breast) come from 2025 Winter Juniors East, where she finaled in both the 100 breast (9th, 1:01.54) and the 200 breast (3rd, 2:10.88). She swam the 200 IM in time trials and clocked a PB of 2:06.17.
At the 2026 NCSA Spring Championships, she was a top-8 finisher in both the 100 breast (8th place) and 200 breast (6th), hitting times of 1:02.20 and 2:13.16 in finals.
In LCM, Deras kicked off the 2026 season with lifetime bests in the 200 back, 50/100/200 breast, and 50 fly. At last weekend’s North Carolina LSC Long Course Championships, she was runner-up in the 200 breast and placed 8th in the 100 breast, clocking PBs (2:34.03/1:13.17) in both events.
Deras will join Ally Vernon, Alexandra Hrnčárová, Bianca Nannucci, Cassidy Carlborg, Elyse Wood, Grace Marsaa, Lydia Cameron, Natalia Janiszewska, Savannah Berry, Siena Santos, and Sinead Valero in Blacksburg next fall.
