Virginia high school state champion Tobias Damico-Lassman has announced his verbal commitment to swim and study at Towson University beginning in the fall of 2027. He publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I am excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Towson University. I would like to thank my family and club coaches for supporting me through my swimming journey, and all of the coaching staff at Towson for giving me the chance to compete at a division l level. I am excited to grow and develop with Towsons incredible program and look forward to many great years. Go Tigers!!!
A rising senior at Alexandria City High School in Virginia, Damico-Lassman has been a member of his school’s varsity swimming team since his freshman year. He also trains year-round with the Potomac Marlins, where he primarily specializes in butterfly and sprint freestyle.
Damico-Lassman is coming off a 2025-26 season that saw him have a breakthrough in each of his top events. He entered the season with PBs of 22.35 in the 50 free, 47.97 in the 100 free, 2:15.37 in the 200 free, 51.51 in the 100 fly, and 1:58.15 in the 200 fly, and ended it with times of 21.17, 45.87, 1:40.96, 48.39, and 1:49.92.
The future Tiger set his current PBs across three different meets: his best time in the 200 free came at the Sports Fair Winter Classic in December, the 50 and 100 free at the Virginia High School League Occoquan Region Championships in February, and the 100 and 200 fly at Speedo Sectionals – St. Mary’s City in March.
Though none of his PBs stem from the VHSL Class 6 State Championships, Damico-Lassman did win his first-ever state title this past February. After finishing 21st a year prior, he won the 100 fly in addition to touching 18th in the 50 free. On relays, he helped Alexandria City make a pair of A finals, with the 200 medley relay squad finishing seventh and the 400 free relay team touching eighth.

A Division I program in the Coastal Athletic Association, the Towson men took the runner-up spot at this past season’s conference championships. Damico-Lassman’s current career bests in both fly events would have qualified for the ‘B’ finals, and he’s not too far off the 20.54, 45.51, and 1:40.45 to earn a second swim in the freestyle events, and he still has two full seasons of training to go before lining up at his first conference meet.
Damico-Lassman joins Ethan Chipriano and Colton Mettler in committing to the Tigers’ class of 2031 so far.
