Univ of Denver Hilltoppers Assistant Age Group Coach

Founded in 1955, the University of Denver Hilltoppers have been recognized as both Silver and Gold Medal club in recent years in the USA Swimming Club Excellence program.  The program has approximately 275 athletes.  The Hilltoppers primary facility is an indoor 50m x 25yd pool in the Ritchie Center on the University of Denver Campus, located in south central Denver metropolitan area.  The team is committed to development of physical literacy through the GAIN dryland program.

POSITION SUMMARY:

University of Denver Hilltoppers are seeking an assistant coach for our age group program ages 8-12.  We are hiring for multiple training groups.  Opportunities may include overseeing one or two practice groups depending on applicant qualifications and availability.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Coach Member in good standing with USA Swimming
  2. Prior experience in competitive swimming.
  3. Strong understanding of stroke mechanics and athlete development.
  4. Interested in educational growth and professional development.
  5. Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  6. Value the importance of team culture and work within framework of team philosophy.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Create season plan ensuring continuity of group training philosophy within context of the long-term athlete team development plan
  2. Work with other coaches above and below respective group to ensure athlete advancement is facilitated within the program.
  3. Write daily workouts for both water and dryland.
  4. Meet entries for respective training group(s)
  5. Communication to parents and athletes within respective training group(s).
  6. Attend weekly staff meetings.
  7. Attend all competitions for respective training groups.

OPTIONAL: TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES 1-3 meet/year (5-15 days of travel)

  1. May assist Head Coach or other Full Time Coach on travel trips to championship level meets.
  2. May drive University rented vehicles and transport athletes

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  1. Hourly pay to be determined by experience.
  2. Sick time accrued by hours worked.
  3. USA Swimming membership, background check, and certifications paid for by club.
