Bobby Finke on 1500/400IM Double: “I don’t think I’m ever gonna do that again”

2026 Pro Swim Series – Indianapolis

Video captured by Anya Pelshaw.

Even though Bobby Finke swam his usual distance-oriented lineup, his weekend was tougher than normal. Having prelims and finals of the 1500 meant he swam the final of the 1500 in the same session as the final of the 400 IM. He would end up swimming a 15:08 in the 1500 (2nd) and 4:26 in the 400 IM (8th). However, Finke did bounce back on the last night, swimming a gutsy race in the 800 free final and using his patented closing speed to touch 1st in 7:56.

After the meet, Finke vowed (hoped) that this would be the last 1500/400 IM double in his career.
