Ilya Kharun on Sweeping Butterfly Races, Being Competitive in 50-100-200: “It’s important to me”

Ilya Kharun pulled off a butterfly sweep this weekend in Indianapolis, taking wins in the 50 (22.7), 100 (50.6), and 200 (1:54.9) butterfly. In the former, Kharun set a new US Open record, taking back the record he had previously broken in December before Maxime Grousset of France had lowered it in January. On the sweep, Kharun emphasized that he wants to be competitive in all three butterfly distances, a feat that few have been able to accomplish but that the Sun Devil has been doing quite well as of late.
