BOTR Backstroker Brody Reber Sends Verbal to Michigan for Fall 2027

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Sectionals finalist Brody Reber has announced his verbal commitment to swim for the University of Michigan beginning in the fall of 2027. A backstroke and IM specialist, Reber was named a “Best of the Rest” recruit in SwimSwam’s rankings for the boys’ high school class of 2027.

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Michigan! First and foremost I want to thank my family for always being there for me and helping me throughout this process. Thank you to Coach Casey for always pushing me and helping me get to where I am today. Lastly, I want to thank Coach Aaron and Coach Matt for giving me this incredible opportunity to represent the University of Michigan at the highest level. GO BLUE!!”

The Pennsylvania native is currently a junior at Warwick High School in Lititz, where he has been competing for the school’s varsity swimming team since his freshman year. Reber also trains year-round with Lancaster Aquatic Club.

Reber has qualified for the PIAA (Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association) 3A State Championship every season thus far in his high school career. At the 2025 iteration of the meet, he claimed the state title in the 200 IM with a best time of 1:48.94 and placed 4th in the 100 back in a best time of 49.17, setting new Warwick school records in both events. He blew past those time standards at this past season’s state championship in March, taking 2nd in the 200 IM (1:47.62) and 3rd in the 100 back (47.56) to shatter the school records and his own lifetime best times once again.

At the 2026 St. Mary’s City Sectionals a few weeks later, Reber delivered another series of strong performances, posting four new personal best times and earning a second swim in all five of his individual events. He won the 100 fly (47.99 – PB) and placed 2nd in the 50 free (20.60 – PB), 100 back (48.10) and 200 back (1:47.24 – SB) and 3rd in the 200 IM (1:51.49). He also logged new personal best times in the 200 free (1:40.70) and the 50 back (22.45) as the leadoff on both the 800 free relay and 200 medley relay, respectively. His times in the 50 back, 100 back and 100 fly all notably hit the Junior Nationals qualifying standards.

Reber also holds lifetime best times of 1:46.43 in the 200 back from the 2024 LAC ARENA Holiday Cup and 3:58.03 in the 400 IM from the 2024 Winter Junior Championship – East.

Best Times SCY

  • 100 back – 47.56
  • 200 back – 1:46.43
  • 200 IM – 1:47.62
  • 50 free – 20.60

A Division I program in the Big Ten Conference, the Michigan men claimed the runner-up spot at this past season’s conference championship before sending seven athletes to compete at the NCAA Division I Men’s Championship, where they placed 8th overall. To earn a second swim at the 2026 Big Ten Conference Championships, it took times of 46.54/1:43.99 in the 100/200 back, 1:46.36 in the 200 IM and 20.19 in the 50 free, putting Reber outside the cutoff in each of his top events.

On the team itself, Reber would have ranked 4th in the 100 back, 6th in the 200 back and 9th in the 200 IM, bringing added depth to the Wolverines. With another full season to go before he arrives on campus, it remains to be seen exactly how the roster will shake out.

Currently set to join Reber in Michigan’s class of 2031 are Boone Wilcox, Allen Gyang, Anthony Dornoff, Charles Howard and Ben Luginski, who should all make for strong training partners over their four years together.
