After winning the 200 IM on night 1, Justin Shi earned another win as the 16 year old touched in a 1:52.78 in the 200 free. That dropped 3.38 seconds from his previous lifetime best. He has dropped seven seconds in the last year as he swam a 1:59.53 last June. Shi also swam to a 2nd place finish in the 400 IM with a 4:31.12 to finish behind Daniel Branon who won in a 4:27.82. Branon dropped 0.82 seconds in his win.
The men’s 100 fly came down to the touch as Kirk Morgan earned the win in a 55.27 to finish just ahead of Jack Edgemond who swam to a 55.38. Morgan is a Boston College commit while Edgemond competed at Arizona State through his sophomore season in 2020.
33 year old Chuck Katis tied for a win in the 50 breast with Zach Erb as the two touched in a 29.00.
NC State commit Emerson Callis swam to two wins on the night to highlight the girls side of the meet. She first won the 100 fly in a 1:01.68. She has been as fast as 1:00.70 that she swam back in August at Summer Juniors for 17th. One event later, Callis was back in the water and swam to a 4:53.27 in the 400 IM. Her best time is a 4:42.39 from Summer Juniors as well.
UNC commit Sofie Vanyo won the 200 free in a 2:03.18 and had a strong final 50 to pass Anna Shnowske who was 2nd in a 2:03.59. Vanyo has a best time 2:02.98 while Shnowske’s best time is a 2:01.87. The final win on the girls side came from Elizabeth Bryan as she won the 50 breast in a 33.38.
