The 2026 Dutch European Swimming Trials are on the schedule for July 2nd through July 5th, where the nation’s best swimmers will be vying for slots on the roster for this year’s European Championships. That elite multi-national affair begins on July 31st in Paris/Saint-Denis, France.
The Dutch Trials are an open meet, where athletes from other nations have been invited to attend. Newly minted Australian World Record holder Cameron McEvoy is among the non-Dutch expected to race, as are the Belgian National Team and the Aquatics GB Euros squad, once both those rosters have been finalized.
That means new Dad McEvoy may take on splash n’ dash competitors to the tune of Matt Richards and Jacob Mills of Great Britain or Sean Niewold and Nyls Korstanje of the host country.
Peter Bishop, Head Coach of TeamNL Swimming, says of the competition, “The European Swimming Trials offer world-class racing conditions, a fast pool, and top-tier competition. If you’re an international swimmer looking to test yourself against some of the best in Europe, this is the place to be!” (Trials website)
As for the host nation swimmers, they will be striving to meet the following qualification times, split out between senior and those under the age of 23.

Did everyone see his April Fool’s post “I think it’s finally time to turn around!” Ie. 100 metres. It would be great but I’m pretty sure he was joking.
Honestly kinda devastated.
Brent Hayden went 47.9 at 37, I have no doubt that Cam would be capable of doing something great at age 32-33. If he were a few years younger, I think he could contend for the WR again like he did in 2016.
But at this stage in his career, continuing to focus on the 50 makes sense.
He did say in a podcast (think here on SwimSwam) that he was curious if he could do a PB in the 100 Free (47.0 or faster).
He can still turn around in the 50 meters if it’s SCM! (He’s said he will attend SCM Worlds this summer)
But maybe his turns are just as bad as his wanting starts?
Oh…wait…
Clearly we need a sarcasm detector. 😂
It was weird though as normally April Fools jokes are posted before midday, and Can’s was definitely an afternoon post.
Fastest man on the planet ***ever***
I was thinking the exact same thing.
Sounds like this could be a fast meet for Top 3 – Top 5 in many or most events
