For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Lily Swope from Gambrills, Maryland has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at Cincinnati beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Cincinnati. I would like to thank Coach Scott, Coach Mandy and the entire UC coaching staff for giving me this amazing opportunity, and Coach Stephen, my family, friends, and teammates for the support during this journey. Go Bearcats!”

Swope swims for Annapolis Swim Club and most recently competed at the Maryland Senior Champs last month. There she swam to state titles in the 50 free (23.22), 50 back (24.92), 100 back (54.34), and 50 fly (24.46). All four wins were also lifetime bests.

She had a strong long course season last summer where she finished the season at Futures in Greensboro. There she finaled in both the 50 back and 50 fly, finishing 29th in the 50 fly with a best time of a 28.72 and 32nd in the 50 back with a 31.30.

Swope’s Best SCY Times Are:

  • 100 back: 54.34
  • 100 fly: 55.18
  • 50 free: 23.22
  • 100 free: 51.44

The Cincinnati women finished 4th out of 10 teams at the 2026 Big 12 Championships and went on to send two swimmers to the 2026 NCAA Championships. Senior Joleigh Crye led the team at Big 12s with 71 individual points including a win in the 100 breast with a 58.02.

Based on her best times, Swope has the potential to make an immediate impact at the conference level. Her best time in the 100 back would have made the Big 12 ‘B’ final. It took a 23.12 in the 50 free and a 54.91 in the 100 fly to earn a second swim. Cincinnati had one ‘B’ finalist and three ‘C’ finalists in the 100 back.

Swope will arrive this fall as a member of the class of 2026 along with Sadie Minich, Nicole Amike, Macartney Mahler, Riley Miller, Alexis Schmidt, Nina Heron, McKenzie Jenny, and Olivia Wenert. Heron also will arrive from Maryland as she swims for North Baltimore Aquatic Club.
