Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Farrah Klein will head across the country next year after committing to South Carolina’s class of 2030. She confirmed the news on Instagram, writing:
I am incredibly blessed to finally announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of South Carolina. I would like to thank my family and friends for their unwavering support and love throughout this journey. I would also like to thank @teamsuffolkswim for shaping me into the person and swimmer I am today. Finally, I would like to thank Coach Jeff, Coach Kelly, and the rest of the USC coaching staff for this incredible opportunity. I can’t wait to get to work with this team, GO COCKS!!
A native of Dix Hills, New York, Klein is currently a senior at Half Hollow Hills-Kings Park, where she competed on the varsity swimming and diving team her first two years. She also trains year-round with Team Suffolk Swim Club and specializes primarily in backstroke, sprint butterfly, and the 200 IM.
Klein has consistently improved throughout her career, and over the past year alone she dropped from 1:59.06 to 1:56.99 in the 200 back, 56.81 to 55.46 in the 100 fly, and 2:05.67 to 2:04.17 in the 200 IM, while also lowering her 100 back best by two hundredths from 55.21 to 55.19. All of her best times except the 100 fly came at the ISCA Senior Cup last March, where she made the finals in all of her top events. She finished runner-up in the 100 back, third in the 200 back, fourth in the 200 IM, and ninth in the 100 fly. Her 100 fly best came at a local ASCSC Suffolk County meet.
Klein has qualified for USA Swimming’s Winter Junior Championships twice. In 2024, she placed 26th in the 200 back (1:59.06), 38th in the 100 back (55.53), and 11th in the 200 IM (2:07.12). Last month, she swam season bests in all four events, finishing 29th in the 200 back (1:58.45), 39th in the 100 back (55.19), 68th in the 200 IM (2:04.85), and 88th in the 100 fly (56.59).
Top SCY Times:
- 100 Backstroke: 55.15
- 200 Backstroke: 1:56.99
- 100 Butterfly: 55.46
- 200 IM: 2:04.17
South Carolina, guided by head coach Jeff Poppell, delivered a strong showing at the 2025 SEC Championships, placing fifth in a competitive 13-team field. The Gamecocks carried that momentum into the NCAA Championships, taking 24th overall with 28 points.
At the 2025 SEC Championships, where the top 24 finishers across the ‘A,’ ‘B,’ and ‘C’ finals scored points, it took times of 53.11/1:55.25 in the backstrokes, 52.92 in the 100 fly, and 1:59.04 in the IM to earn a second swim.
On the team’s 2024-25 depth chart, Robie would have ranked seventh in the 200 back, ninth in the 100 back, and tenth in the 100 fly and 200 IM. As she develops and the roster evolves through graduation, she is well-positioned to become one of the team’s top backstrokers, with the potential to develop into an SEC scorer.
Klein joins Jessica Robie (Osprey, Fla.), Agatha Amaral (Kissimmee, Fla.), Sophie Fox (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.), and Kaitlyn Kolessar (Aston, Pa.) in committing to South Carolina’s class of 2030, who should all make for strong training partners over their four years together.
