2x Michigan HS State Champ Spencer Carl Gives Verbal to Louisville

Holland, Michigan’s Spencer Carl has announced his intention to matriculate at and swim for the University of Louisville beginning in the fall of 2017.

“I am very excited to announce that I am committing to Louisville! I know the atmosphere there will be a perfect fit for me. I look forward to being a part of a team with such high goals and expectations for not only swimming, but also the classroom.”

A senior at West Ottawa High School, Carl is the reigning MHSAA Division 1 State Champion in the 200 free (1:37.15, by .01 over Ryan Vander Meulen) and 100 fly (48.12). He also swam fly (21.81) on the medley relay and anchored the 400 free relay (44.99).

Carl swims year-round with Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics. He was an A-finalist in both the 100m fly (sixth, 54.73) and 200m fly (fifth, 2:01.27) at the 2016 Speedo Junior Nationals; and in the 100y fly (seventh, 48.62) and 200y fly (sixth, 1:47.63) at the 2015 Speedo Juniors East. His top times are:

500 free 4:30.19 .

Carl will be part of the Louisville class of 2021 along with fellow-commits Michael Hampel and  Nick Albiero.
