23.7/52.2 Sprint Freestyler Thea Siegel Announces Commitment To Pitzer College For 2026-27

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Thea Siegel will be attending Pitzer College in the fall of 2026 and swimming for the Pomona–Pitzer Sagehens, the joint varsity intercollegiate athletic program for Pomona College and Pitzer College. Siegel is currently a senior at Winchester Thurston High School in Allison Park, Pennsylvania, and swims year-round with Team Pittsburgh Elite Aquatics.

Siegel told SwimSwam:

I am so exited to announce my verbal commitment to Pitzer College where I will continue my academic and athletic career. I would like to thank my family, coaches, and friends who have supported me through thick and thin along the way. I also want to thank Coach Gowdy and Coach Jenel for this amazing opportunity. Go Sagehens!!

Top SCY Times:

  • 50 Freestyle: 23.71
  • 100 Freestyle: 52.29
  • 200 Freestyle: 1:56.07
  • 500 Freestyle: 5:15.49
  • 100 Breaststroke: 1:07.74
  • 200 Breaststroke: 2:33.28
  • 200 IM: 2:11.28

Siegel is a sprint freestyler who boasts PBs of 23.71 and 52.29 in the 50 and 100 free, but she’s also both rangy and versatile. She can go up to the 200 and 500 free, where she’s been as quick as 1:56.07 and 5:15.49, while she also has strong breaststroke times of 1:07.74 and 2:33.28, and has put together a 2:11.28 200 IM.

She’s been on a strong improvement curve throughout her career, dropping time each year, with all of her current bests in those seven events set during the 2024-25 season.

Siegel is a two-time ‘A’ finalist at the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) 2A State meet, taking fourth in the 100 free and fifth in the 50 free last February. As a sophomore, she was ninth in the 50 free and 19th in the 100 breast, and finished 24th in the 50 free during her freshman year.

The Division III Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens dominated at the 2025 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships, finishing 165.5 points ahead of runner-up Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS).

Siegel is poised to add depth to the roster, as all of her lifetime bests would have scored at the 2025 conference meet. Her best time in the 50 free would have ranked her fourth after prelims and into the ‘A’ final, and her 100 free would have qualified her seventh.

Additionally, she would have placed ninth out of prelims in the 100 breast and 200 free, just missing the ‘A’ finals; it took 1:06.26 and 1:55.84 to make the top eight. In the 200 IM, 500 free, and 200 breast, her bests would have been 12th, 13th, and 16th after prelims, quick enough to make the consolation final.

She’ll likely swim the 50 and 100 free, with the 200 free looking like a better bet than the 100 breast for her third individual event.

Joining Siegel in the 2026 recruiting class are Ellie Wang, Tai Misailidis, and Gabrielle Sung.
