2027 “Honorable Mention” Jacob Bougaieff Adds Verbal to Already-Loaded Stanford Class of 2031

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Jacob Bougaieff from Houston, Texas, has made a verbal commitment to swim and study at Stanford University beginning in the fall of 2027. He wrote on social media:

“I am honored and excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Stanford University! To my family, thank you for your love, support and encouragement through every step of this journey. To coaches Jennie, Jason D, Jarrod, Dustin and Rey, thank you for your patience and guidance both in and out of the pool. To coaches Dan and Mike, thank you for this incredible opportunity. I look forward to seeing what this next chapter holds. GO CARD!!🌲🌲”

Bougaieff swims for Dad’s Club Swim Team and Strake Jesuit College Prep and, as one of the top breaststrokers in the cohort, made the “Honorable Mention” section of our Way Too Early list of top boys’ swimmers in the high school class of 2027.

After clocking lifetime bests in the 200 breast (1:57.88) and 400 IM (3:59.44) at 2024 Winter Juniors West, he had a successful sophomore high school season, culminating in PBs in the 100 breast (54.36) and 200 IM (1:49.69) at the 2025 Texas UIL 6A State Championships. He lowered his 400 IM time by 4 seconds a month later at Justin Sectionals, placing 10th with 3:55.45. He also finaled in the 100 breast, 200 breast, and 200 IM (all 9th places).

He opened the 2025 long-course season at Canadian Trials in May, where he finished with PBs in the 50 breast (29.90), 200 breast (2:18.40), and 400 IM (4:34.66). At Austin Sectionals, he took home PBs in the 200 free (1:58.94 relay leadoff), 100 breast (1:03.71), 200 breast (2:18.17), and 400 IM (4:31.40). Bougaieff closed out the season at NCAA Summer Championships, where he hit lifetime bests in the 200 free (1:58.27), 50 breast (29.25), 100 breast (1:02.40), 200 breast (2:17.29), and 200 IM (2:05.88). He placed 3rd in the 100 breast and 200 breast, 4th in the 50 breast, and 7th in the 200 IM.

All told, in SCY, Bougaieff dropped 2.9 seconds in the 100 breast, 4.5 in the 200 breast, and 6 in the 200 IM over the last year, after having dropped his second sport (basketball). (Note: his father is Canadian Alex Bougaieff, a 6’10” center who played professional basketball in Europe.)

Best SCY times:

  • 100 breast – 54.36
  • 200 breast – 1:57.88
  • 200 IM – 1:49.69
  • 400 IM – 3:55.07

Bougaieff will join the Cardinal’s stellar class of 2031 with #2 Luke Vatev, #10 Owen Ekk, #15 Connor Christopherson, #19 Yi Zheng, and Soren Carlson.
