The Texas men earned their 2nd straight SEC title on Saturday evening, taking the first step in accomplishing a repeat of their 2025 NCAA title.
This win marks their 47th consecutive conference title over three different conferences: the disbanded Southwest Conference (17), Big 12 (28), and SEC (2). That is every conference meet the Longhorns have raced since 1980.
This win marks the 2nd title at the helm of the Longhorn program for head coach Bob Bowman, and it is his 4th straight since he won the 2023 and 2024 Pac-12 Championships while at the head of the ASU program.

The Texas men won at least one finals event every session, and one of the highlights of their meet was going 1-2-3-4 in the men’s 200 IM. Senior Hubert Kos was the highest individual point scorer on the team, and he lead that men’s contingent in the 200 IM, swimming the top time of 1:40.53.
Kos also won the 100 backstroke and finished 2nd in the 200 backstroke to bring in 92 points for the Longhorns.
Texas also had a few other swimmers score at least 80 points with junior Nate Germonprez (84), junior Rex Maurer (82), senior Baylor Nelson (80), and freshman Campbell McKean (80).
If the Texas men can do anything, it is developing swimmers. It feels like every year we are writing about a Texas swimmer who had a major breakthrough. This year, Baylor Nelson and Nate Germonprez saw huge improvements. Nelson, who is a transfer from A&M, swam best times for the first time in three years in November, and he picked up an SEC win in the 400 IM this year.
Germonprez started swimming the breaststroke events at the 2025 SEC Championships after racing the freestyle events at the 2024 Big 12 Championships. He finished 2nd in the 100 and the 200, before going on to win the bronze in the 100 breast at NCAAs and finish 9th in the 200 breast.
At this year’s meet, Germonprez won both distances of breaststroke, setting a new SEC record in the men’s 200 breast of 1:48.94, which makes him the 10th fastest performer in history in the event.
Every member of their SEC team scored at least one point at the meet, and only four of their point scorers were seniors this season, and they are looking like they will be a force in the SEC for years to come.

Non-Team Titles
Commissioner’s Cup
Texas senior Hubert Kos won the Commissioner’s Cup, which is the award given to the swimmer who scores the most individual points at the meet. He scored 92 points, earning two 1st place finishes in the 100 back and 200 IM and a 2nd place finish in the 200 back.
Swimmer of the Meet
Josh Liendo won the coach-voted Swimmer of the Meet award after he won the 50 free and 100 fly and finished 3rd in the 100 free. He also had a couple major relay splits to help lead the Tennessee team to victory, and he participated in the only NCAA record of the 2026 SEC Championships, the Florida men’s 200 medley relay, splitting 17.58 on the freestyle leg.
Diver of the Meet
Tennessee’s Bennett Greene scored 87 points after he won a medal in each of the diving events. He started his meet with a win on the 1-Meter springboard. He finished 2nd on the 3-meter springboard, and he won the bronze in the platform event.

But did we taper? I was told we needed a full taper for the entire team to win SEC’s?
This article says that Calvin Fry is a Junior shown above. The psych sheet also says so. However, on the Texas Swimming website under Roster it says he’s a Freshman. This is his first year swimming for Texas, he’s British. Does anyone know for sure whether he’s Freshman or Junior?
he’s got his undergraduate degree from Loughborough. Can’t imagine he’s a freshman
Implication is that he used some years of eligibility at Loughborough, where he raced at BUCS, which makes sense.
