Day two of the 2015 FINA World Championships Pick ‘Em Contest (presented by TYR) was highlighted by clear-cut favorites to win 3 of 4 finals events, followed by a lot of uncertainty.
Our day two contest went to Sprintswammer1992, who scored 47 points, anchored by behind sweep picks in the women’s 100 fly and men’s 100 breast (the only entrant to hit both events perfectly).

Total possible points: 60 (ideally 65, but in our Pick ‘Em, as readers can only select “other” once per event)
Contestant average: 26.3
Standard deviation: 5.5 (meaning 66% of contestants were between 20.8 and 31.8 points)
- World record holders Sarah Sjostrom and Adam Peaty were big favorites by our readers’ standards; 426 and 422 of our 450 contestants, respectively, picked them to win the women’s 100 fly and men’s 100 breast
- Katinka Hosszu was another big favorite, with 375 of 450 correctly selecting the Iron Lady for the win in the 200 IM
- The men’s 50 fly was the biggest toss-up in the eyes of our readers; three swimmers (Florent Manaudou, Nicholas Santos, and Cesar Cielo) all had >80 first place votes, and four swimmers (Manaudou, Santos, Cielo, and top seed Andrii Govorov) receiving >80 second place selections

Yeah… day 2 trashed me. Will be interesting to see how things shape up after Day 3, hopefully the US team starts to make a showing!
How come my day one score has changed? Yesterday it was down as 33 points and now it’s down as 29.
Not that it matters much as I was terrible on day two!
I was nearly last place on day 2. And I spent time thinking about it. Yikes.
When it comes to NCAA men’s pick ’em contest, I’m your guy, but with Worlds there are just to many swimmers, not enough access to foreign meet results, WAY too many factors (such as personal program, time adjusting, etc.), and lastly just too damn much American pride.
