Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
A year after announcing his intention to swim and study at the United States Military Academy at West Point, Brody Chandler has committed to the University of Tennessee’s class of 2030.
“After much consideration, I am beyond thrilled to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Tennessee!
This decision was not made lightly, but I could not be more excited about the opportunity ahead and what the future holds as a Volunteer.
I want to thank my family and friends for their endless support and encouragement throughout this journey. I also want to give a huge thank you to my Coaches, Kyle, Tim, and Kent, for always challenging me to be the best version of myself and standing by me every step of the way.
Lastly, I am incredibly grateful to Coaches Rob, Matt, Caleb, and Rich for welcoming me and giving me this incredible opportunity at Tennessee.
Go Vols 🍊”
Chandler, who hails from Roseville, California, was 17th as a sophomore and 20th as a junior in our rankings of top swimming recruits from the high school class of 2026. He is a 3-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American from Granite Bay High School, and he trains year-round with Sierra Marlins Swim Team.
At the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Championships last spring, the then-junior broke 20 seconds in the 50 free for the first time, going 19.97 in prelims, 19.82 in finals (for 2nd place), and leading off the 200 free relay in 19.99. He won the 100 free with a PB of 43.63 and anchored the 400 free relay in 43.61. A week later, he competed at the California State Meet and placed 6th in the 50 free (20.25) and 2nd in the 100 free (PB of 43.41).
He jumped into long course season the next weekend at Summer Sanders Invitational, where he went lifetime bests in the LCM 50 fly (25.66) and 100 fly (57.61). He continued to drop time in his sprint free and fly events throughout the summer, wrapping up at Junior National Championships. There, he won the 50 free, finished 7th in the 100 free and 21st in the 50 fly, and notched PBs in the 50 free (22.52), 100 free (50.45), 50 fly (25.10), and 100 fly (55.51)
One of the best 3-distance freestylers in the class, Chandler will join a Tennessee program that excels in sprints. The Vols placed 5th in the team standings at the 2026 NCAA Men’s Division I Championships, with top-8 finishes in the 50 free (Gui Caribe, 2nd), 100 free (Gui Caribe, 3rd), 200 free (Koby Bujak-Upton, 2nd), 200 back (Nick Simons, 7th), 200 free relay (4th), and 400 free relay (4th).
Top SCY times:
- 50 free – 19.82
- 100 free – 43.12
- 200 free – 1:36.74
- 100 fly – 48.80
Chandler will join fellow Vols’ class of 2030 swimmers Whitaker Steward (#10), Drew Eubanks (#11), Miles Blackson-Dunbar (#15), Abduljabar Adama, Kauã Pereira, and Mantas Kauspedas, divers Ivor Brown and Juan Manuel Lopez Gomez, and incoming transfers Julian Koch and Vova Gavrysh next fall.

Let’s gooo I am so excited
Great times for army. Meh for Tennessee. Hope you make it (or really like the future a UT degree gives you)
Interesting at the end of the article, that list of names counts at 11.. SEC roster limits, not knowing how many athletes they have returning, curious where they sit.
Was thinking the same thing, but one that will matter is how many of the transfers were given DSA by their schools (how this applies to the D2 transfers) and how many of the current swimmers have DSA.
DSA can apply to swimmers that are Freshmen this year, but in theory incoming Freshman could have claimed that it should apply to them if they were promised scholarships before that DSA were added (unless it did state only Freshmen during 2025-2026).
Oh yea LOVING the stampede to Big Orange Country. Welcome Brody wishing you a fabulous career as a Man Vol.
VFE.
Rats jumping the ship at Army. Wonder how long Nigro will last. Post Crush and Rankin, the cupboard is beyond bare. This is gonna put a crimp in his plan to parlay to a bigger job.
When do we think navy will score at NCAAs again? It’s been a while.
No crush or rankin and army is beyond weak. Facts.
Commitment=joke
Flipping commitments is daily event now.
I blame this kid a lot less than others (not that its ever that big an issue).committing to army is not like committing to other schools, If he decided that life wasn’t for him I am glad he is deciding that now than 2 years into his very long military commitment
His former club coach is one of the Vols coaches. It’s not surprising that his former coach worked hard to get him to come to TN.
