Lisa Kaunitz, of Tualatin Hills Swim Club in Oregon, has made a verbal commitment to UCLA, following her sister, Sarah Kaunitz, south to Los Angeles. While Sarah graduated from CCS-champions Monta Vista and swam for Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics, the Kaunitz family now lives in Oregon and Lisa is a senior at Lake Oswego High School.

Kaunitz’s best times are all from a year ago, when she swam for PASA at the Stanford location under Scott Shea. She is on the younger side of the high school class of 2016, though, and has been using her time at THills under Franz Resseguie to develop her stroke and technique, working to make her mark in the upcoming season

Kaunitz nevertheless broke the Lake Oswego High School team records in the 200 IM (2:04.45) and 500 free last season. At the 2015 Class 6A OSAA Girls Swimming State Championships last February she finished third in the 200 IM with 2:05.06 and second in the 500 free with 4:58.51. Her best times over the last two seasons are:

  SCY LCM
200 IM 2:02.93 2:20.22
400 IM 4:21.84 4:59.08
200 free 1:49.91 2:04.63
500/400 free 4:51.11 4:22.17

“After being on campus and seeing the great balance of academics and athletics, I realized that UCLA would be the best fit for me. I am so happy to be part of this great team and coaching staff. Go Bruins!”
