Duke Blue Devils Pick Up Pair

The Duke University Blue Devils have pick up a pair of recruits in Elizabeth Devitt and Verity Abel.

Abel, who currently swims for the Wilton Y Wahoo’s, out of Conneticut is consider the Top Recruit out of the state.  She is a strong distance swimmer that has multiple US Open qualifying time standards.  She will look to make an immediate impact for the Blue Devils as her 1650 time of 16:30.21 would have put her in the top-8 at last years ACC Championships and given her and NCAA-B cut.  Her 500 times of 4:51.97 would have made her competitive in the top-16 in last years meet as well.

Devitt, a current member of the Mission Viejo Nadadores, out of California will look to add to the Blue Devils Individual Medley events.  She has qualified for Both Summer Long Course Juniors and Winter Nationals.  She will give a boost to a IM group as, according to the results from the 2013 ACC Championships, she will enter as the fastest 200 IM’er and second fastest in the 400 IM with times of 2:01.63 and 4:21.66 respectively.  Both of her times would have placed in the top-16 of each of those events at last years championships.
