Diver Olivia Dopkiss Verbally Commits to Iowa Hawkeyes

Diver Olivia Dopkiss from Rockford, Michigan has verbally committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Dopkiss was a USA Diving ATT National Championships qualifier in the 16-18 Junior Olympic category this summer on both the 1 meter and 3 meter boards.

At that meet, she placed 18th on the 1-meter and 22nd on the 3-meter board.

Dopkiss has individual dive scores, as well as dive scores can be compared across different judges, that are capable of NCAA scoring.

Her highest-scoring 1-meter dive is a 403B Inward 1 1/2 somersault pike, where this summer she scored a 50.40 at the USA Divign Zone C Championships. Her best dive on the 3 meter is a back 2 1/2 somersault tuck, where she scored a whopping 60.20 at the same meet.

Dopkiss competes for Legacy Diving and Rockford High School, though she didn’t participate in the Michigan High School State Championship meet as a junior last season.

Iowa has a strong diving program, and hosted the 2013 USA Diving National Championships. They sent one diver to last year’s NCAA Championship meet, sophomore Calli Head, who placed 40th on the platform – the one event that Dopkiss hasn’t competed in historically
