Monica Guyett of St Charles Swim Team has committed to the University of Illinois. Guyett specializes in all the distance staples, and the longer the race the better she performs. Her top time is in the 1650 free, where she has a Winter Juniors cut.

Guyett competes for St. Charles North High School in St. Charles, Illinois. She has consistently qualified for the Illinois State Championship meet, most recently finishing third in the 500 free and eighth in the 200 free, and swimming on St. Charles North’s fifth-place 400 free relay team in last year’s IHSA State Championships. Her top short-course times include:

  • 1650 Freestyle: 16:38.72
  • 1000 Free: 10:08.89
  • 500 Free: 4:53.16
  • 200 Free: 1:51.94

Guyett placed eighth in the 1650 freestyle at last spring’s NCSA Meet in Orlando, and finished 14th in the 800 free at the summer edition in Indianapolis. She plans to study animal science and hopes to follow on to Veterinary or Animal Science research, and chose University of Illinois because it is consistently ranked as one of the top schools in the category of Animal Sciences.

“I’m excited to be joining the Fighting Illini Swim Team! I love the academic and athletic challenges and am so comfortable with the team, coaches, and support staff. I just want to thank the Illinois coaches for this fantastic opportunity and can’t wait to join such a great group of swimmers!” – Monica Guyett, St Charles Swim Team
