Tiare Coker, a senior at Crescenta Valley High School, has made a verbal commitment to BYU for 2015-16. Coker swam with Rose Bowl Aquatics and Crescenta Valley High School her freshman year, but moved to Beijing, China with her family at the end of the year. According to her mother, “while the facilities and opportunities in China didn’t match Southern California, she was able to continue to pursue her dream of becoming a Division I swimmer thanks to committed coaches at the International School of Beijing and continuing summer training with Rose Bowl. She is now back in California for her senior year.”

Coker specializes in fly and sprint free. Her best times include:

  SCY LCM
50 fly 28.47
100 fly 56.03 1:02.83
50 free 23.64 27.07
100 free 51.29 57.81
200 free 1:50.54 2:06.40

“Today I am announcing my verbal commitment to Brigham Young University!  I want to thank Coach Kerry and Coach Nick of the International School of Beijing for their efforts to help me continue my training when I moved to Beijing.  I also am extremely grateful for all that Coach Jeff Julian had done to make me the swimmer and person I am today.  Because of their commitment, today I’ve been able to realise my dream of being a Division I swimmer!  Thank you Coach Brooks for this awesome opportunity!  I can’t wait for next year!  Go Cougars!”
