Canadian World Junior Diving Champion Alexa Fung has announced her verbal commitment to join the University of Florida this fall.
Fung comes from Arva, Ontario, where she competed for Toronto Diving Academy. She also has been a member of the Canadian Junior National Team since 2022.
At 15 years of age, Fung launched herself on to the international scene by earning gold at the 2022 World Junior Championships in the 1m springboard event. She also took part in Canada’s 4th-place-finishing effort in the Team event in the same meet.
This summer, Fung finished 10th in the 3m springboard at the Canada Cup.
Last fall, Fung originally committed to Texas, but she flipped her commitment to Gainesville this spring.
“She is the total package,” said Florida’s head diving coach, Bryan Gillooly. “She brings a lot of great national and international experience and has been very successful at the highest levels.”
The Gator women finished 6th at the 2025 NCAA Championships with 0 points from diving. Fung and Florida’s other incoming freshman diver, 2x Junior Worlds top 8 finisher Maria Fernanda Garcia of Mexico, will look to up Florida’s diving potential.
