World Championships Qualifier Sharon Guerrero Cho Commits to Kentucky

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Distance freestyler Sharon Guerrero Cho has committed to Kentucky for the fall of 2025. Guerrero Cho, who is from Tijuana, Mexico, and trains with Club Aquatico de Alto Nivel, is set to represent Mexico, racing the women’s 10km and 3km knockout sprint at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.

Here is Guerrero Cho’s announcement of her commitment:

I’m really excited to announce my verbal commitment to @ukswimdive, where I’ll be continuing my athletic and academic career!! I want to thank God, my family, my coach, and my friends for supporting me and making this possible 🥰

Go cats!!💙

Guerro Cho competed at the 2024 World Aquatics Open Water Swimming Junior World Championships, where she finished 16th in the women’s 10km in 2:18:55.10. At the SI CSTE Presidents’ Day Classic (SCY) back in February, Guerrero Cho would set a handful of new personal bests in yards, including the 1650 free (16:48.64), 500 free (4:55.52), and 400 IM (4:35.62).

Top Times SCY:

  • 1650 free- 16:48.64
  • 500 Free- 4:55.52
  • 400 IM- 4:35.62
  • 200 Free- 1:54.65

Guerrero Cho is headed down to Lexington to join a Kentucky program that finished 11th out of 13 teams at the 2025 SEC Championships.

She now becomes part of the 2025 women’s class that also consists of Ava Fuller, Arianna Wertheim, Kelsey Stuck, Eli Summa, Sarah Anne Shaffer, and Charlotte Driesse. While the Wildcats have not hit many big recruits since head coach Bret Lungaard took over, that has really begun picking up for them this spring, especially in international recruiting fields.

Fuller, Guerrero Cho, and Driesse will be three incoming freshmen who are expected to be largely distance event specialists for this upcoming Wildcats squad.

Guerrero Cho would have had the 5th-best time on Kentucky’s 2024-2025 season for women in the 1650 free and the 9th-best time in the 500 last season.

“that has really begun picking up for them this spring, especially in international recruiting fields.”

Really picking up when they’re 5th on the team in the mile & 9th in the 500, neither within scoring range.
