Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Winchester Swim Team’s Joe Warnagiris has committed to swim at the University of Missouri in the fall of 2026, following a gap year.

I am blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Missouri. I want to thank all of my friends, family, and coaches who have supported me up until this point, as well as Coach Grevers and Coach Sansoucie for giving me this amazing opportunity. I am so excited to train with @mizzouswimdive. GO TIGERS!🐯

In his final high school meet with James Wood High School, Warnagiris took home a pair of Virginia High School Class 4A State titles in the 100 breaststroke, where he set a lifetime best of 55.48, and the 200 IM, touching in 1:49.61. Both swims backed up his junior season performance when he had similar success, winning both races in 2024 as well. His 100 breast swim also took down the Class 4A record of 55.59 from 2022.

Warnagiris also put forward an impressive outing at the NCSA Spring Championships in March, where he set five new lifetime marks and accumulated three top 10 finishes. His top finish came in the 200 IM, where he touched in 1:48.88, for 6th overall, just a touch slower than his personal best from the prelims of that meet, where he touched at 1:48.30.

He swam his other personal bests in the 50 breast (25.48, 7th overall), 200 backstroke (1:45.76, 10th overall), 100 back (48.62, 11th), and 400 IM (3:56.56).

Best Times SCY:

  • 100 Breast: 55.48
  • 200 Back: 1:45.76
  • 100 Back: 48.62
  • 200 IM: 1:48.30
  • 400 IM: 3:56.56

The Missouri men finished 10th at last season’s SEC Swimming and Diving Championships. With his best times, Warnagiris would have finished 31st in the 400 IM, 37th in the 200 back, and 42nd in the 100 breast.

Warnagiris brings a very diverse repertoire to the Missouri men’s team. His unconventional mix of backstroke and breaststroke speed, paired with serviceable IM strength, makes him a multi-tool threat to a team looking to rise in a deep and competitive SEC.

His performance at the 2025 meet was recognized by the Winchester Star, naming him the Boys’ Swimmer of the Year for the third consecutive year.

The Tigers will only graduate one swimmer on the men’s side after the upcoming 2025-2026 season, showing the youthful depth on the men’s roster.

At the time of publication, Warnagiris is the lone confirmed men’s recruit for Missouri in the high school class of 2026.
