Video Interview: Nathan Adrian Scratches 50 Free, Talks with SwimSwam Before Leaving LA Invite

Nathan Adrian ripped a 21.90 in prelims of the 50 free at Los Angeles Invititational, posting the top time of the morning and tying the meet record, set by Jason Lezak in 2009.

He scratched finals and headed home to Northern California after the swim. But first, he sat down with SwimSwam’s Anne Lepesant to talk about his 50 and 100 free races at LA Invite, Mare Nostrum, the lead-up to Nationals, and his weight loss during taper.

The coach in me was like “stop video-bombing Nathan Adrian and warm up!” when those guys were goofing around behind him, but let’s be honest, I’d probably be doing the same thing if I were there.

Is it just me or does Nathan look leaner than usual?

It bodes well for his 100 I think. He’s due to swim a PB in 100 this summer.

Totally feel the same ! he will bring very fast times in August ! The Aussies haven’t won the 100 free yet .
