Phelps talks about his expectations for his meet, and says that his freestyle is feeling better and that his butterfly is feeling more relaxed, which he sees as an indication that the efficiency of his stroke is improving.

When asked what motivates him, Phelps plays coy and says he won’t reveal his goals, but says that “things he wants to accomplish” is what drives him. He also says that he’s really not certain about what his schedule for the Olympics are.

He also reveals that he’s swimming about 60,000 meters per week right now, and that overall he’s much more relaxed than he’s been in the past. He believes that his relaxation has helped him perform better.

The interview is largely Phelps discussing what’s different between him now and him “before,” about how he’s more willing to help and lead younger swimmers, and that he’s more motivated than ever to remain a part of swimming than he has been.
