Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Lily Furrow has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic career at South Dakota, beginning in fall 2025. She confirmed the decision in an email to SwimSwam, writing:
I’m so so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of South Dakota!! Thank you so much to my family, teammates, friends, and coaches support through it all. And thank you so much to the coaching staff at USD for giving me this amazing opportunity. Go Yotes!
Top SCY Times:
- 50 Freestyle: 23.93
- 100 Freestyle: 52.11
- 100 Butterfly: 58.04
- 100 Backstroke: 59.49
Furrow hails from from Galesburg, Illinois, where she attends Galesburg High School and swims year-round with Knox County YMCA. She’s a sprint specialist, strong in the 50 free and the 100s of free, back, and fly.
She’s improved year over year in both the 100 free (52.11) and 100 back (59.49), while her PBs in the 50 free (23.93) and 100 fly (58.04) were set two years ago. While she hasn’t been able to beat those times, she’s come within a few tenths in both events over the past few seasons.
The future Coyote is a four-time Illinois High School Association (IHSA) State qualifier, finishing 39th in the 50 free (24.67) as a freshman, 26th in the 50 free (24.22) and 29th in the 100 fly (58.67) as a sophomore, 34th in the 100 fly as a junior (58.22), and 18th in the 50 free (23.97) and 21st in the 100 free (52.47) last month.
Furrow regularly set her best times at the sectional meet, which is held a week before State. She won the 100 fly in 2023 and 2024 and finished as the runner-up in the 50 free in 2023, 2024, and 2025. This season, she dropped the 100 fly in favor of the 100 free, and walked away with second place.
The South Dakota women finished second out of seven teams at the 2025 Summit League Championships. At the 2025 conference meet, where both ‘A’ and ‘B’ finals are scored, Furrow would have advanced 16th into the ‘B’ final of the 100 free. She would have narrowly missed out on a second swim in the 50 free, as 23.88 was needed to advance. Times of 57.78 and 57.82 were needed to earn a second swim in the 100 back and 100 fly.
Based on the team’s current depth chart, she will be in contention for a spot on both the 200 and 400 free relays during her freshman year.
Furrow will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2030 along with Addison Forschee, Addison Palmer, Sophie Blixt, Addy Tucker, and Elsie Boettcher.
