Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Jacob Anderson has announced his commitment to swim at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. He shared the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim at George Mason University!! Thank you to coach Ryan and coach Jamie for this amazing opportunity, and allowing me to be a part of their spectacular program. I would also like to thank my family, coach Mike, all of my prior coaches, and all of my friends for their support in this journey. I am super grateful for everyone’s support, and super excited for these next 4 years! GO PATRIOTS!!
Top SCY Times:
- 100 Backstroke: 49.51
- 200 Backstroke: 1:49.01
- 200 IM: 1:49.01
- 400 IM: 3:57.09
- 100 Butterfly: 50.05
Anderson is from Wake Forest, North Carolina, where he swims year-round with the Marlins of Raleigh and attends Cardinal Gibbons High School. He’s primarily an IM specialist, but also excels in both backstroke and butterfly events.
Over the past year, he’s dropped from 1:51.76 to 1:49.01 in the 200 IM, 4:02.21 to 3:57.09 in the 400 IM, 50.67 to 49.51 in the 100 back, 1:51.96 to 1:49.01 in the 200 back, 50.94 to 50.05 in the 100 fly, and 1:56.01 to 1:51.49 in the 200 fly.
All of those best times, minus the 100 fly, were set just last week at the Winter Junior Championships—his first time qualifying for the meet. He finished 37th in the 200 IM, 42nd in the 400 IM, 58th in the 200 back, and 66th in the 200 fly. His 100 fly PB was registered last March.
Anderson qualified for the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) 4A State meet in both his sophomore and junior years. As a sophomore in 2024, he finished 14th in the 200 IM. Last season, he improved to sixth in the 200 IM and also competed in the 100 back, touching 12th.
George Mason, located in Fairfax, Virginia, competes in the Atlantic-10 Conference. This year, the Patriots took third out of eight teams on the men’s side.
At the 2025 A-10 conference meet, where ‘A’ and ‘B’ finals are offered, Anderson’s best times in the IMs would have earned him seventh in the 400 IM and eighth in the 200 IM. His PB in the 200 back would have placed him 14th in prelims, earning him a spot in the B final. It took times of 49.01 (100 fly), 49.38 (100 back), and 1:50.96 (200 fly) to make the top 16 and score in his other top events.
Anderson joins Isaac Harter, Harris Abernath, Lucas Landers, Brady Zink, Tommy Watson, and Maddox Matyas in the Patriots’ class of 2030.
