Versatile Mia Facey Verbally Commits to UC-Davis

Mia Facey from the Napa Valley Swim Team has verbally committed to UC-Davis.

She will have an instant impact upon that program with plenty of speed and enough versatility to take that speed across multiple events.

Her best times in yards:

  • 50 free – 24.16
  • 100 free – 51.02
  • 100 breast – 1:03.46
  • 100 fly – 54.97
  • 200 fly – 2:04.62
  • 200 IM – 2:02.46

She’s also a very good long course swimmer and is a Summer Juniors qualifier in the 100 meter fly (1:02.51).

Facey will join butterflier Hilvey Cheung (53.19 last season as a freshman) in what could be very good Aggie medley relays. The beauty is that Facey’s versatility allows them to remain open in their recruiting. She could swim the breaststroke, freestyle, or fly legs admirably, and likely could develop a respectable backstroke leg as well with some energy.

In general, though, graduating three very good breaststrokers (including 1:00.4 Liliana Alvarez) leads them with a big need there, and the team really needs to find depth in their sprint freestyle group as well.

Further highlighting her unique versatility, Facey represented Napa Valley High School at the Sac Joaquin Section Championships last year in the 100 fly (4th place) and the 100 breast (2nd place).
