For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Maddie Pierce from the Richmond suburb of Glen Allen, Virginia has announced her verbal commitment to the University of South Carolina’s class of 2025. A junior at Glen Allen High School, Pierce swims year-round for NOVA of Virginia Aquatics.

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career to swim for the University of South Carolina. Thank you to all of my family, friends, coaches, teammates, and everyone else who has helped me to get where I am today. I am so grateful for all of the love and support, and I am so excited to be a Gamecock! #spursup🐔”

Pierce is a versatile swimmer who has represented the Jaguars in free, back, and IM at Virginia 5A High School state meets. As a freshman in 2018, she finished 5th in the 100 back. Pierce competed at 2019 Winter Juniors East in the 100 back and 100 fly. She also swam on NOVA’s 200 free relay (23.84 split), 400 free relay (52.46 leadoff), and 400 medley relay (56.55 leadoff backstroke).
