Isaac Harter has announced his commitment to further his academic and athletic career at George Mason University, beginning this coming fall with the 2026-2027 season. He hails from Morrisville, North Carolina, where he attends Panther Creek High School and swims year-round with the TAC Titans.
He announced his commitment on social media, writing:
I am blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at George Mason University. I would like to thank the Lord for leading me through this process. I would like to thank my parents, family, and friends for their support. Thank you to Coach Ryan and Coach Jamie for allowing me to be a part of this incredible program. I beyond excited for what the future holds! Go Patriots!!
Harter is a versatile middle distance specialist who competes in butterfly, backstroke, freestyle, and IM.
His target meet of this past short course season was the Speedo Sectionals in Cary, held during the first week of March. He walked away from the meet with a best time in each of the six individual events he competed in, with his highest placement coming in the 200 free. He logged 1:41.84 in prelims before notching 1:43.13 for seventh in the final, and went on to grab another top eight finish in the 400 IM with 4:05.13 for eighth after 4:03.56 in prelims.
Outside of his top eight showings, he hit the wall 14th in the 100 fly with a best time of 1:53.69, 16th in the 200 IM with a best time of 1:55.70, and 34th in the 100 back with 52.98, his first time breaking 53.
He wrapped up his season at the Tar Heel State meet at the end of March, where he didn’t swim his main events. There, he popped his current best time of 52.25 in the 100 fly to hit the wall 14th.
Just last month, despite it being long course season, he produced a PB of 1:54.47 in the 200 IM at the TAC Titans Summer Sizzler.

George Mason, located in Fairfax, Virginia, competes in the Atlantic-10 Conference. This year, the Patriots took third out of eight teams on the men’s side.
Harter will be a valuable addition to the team’s roster in all of his main events. His lifetime best in the 400 IM would have ranked second on the team’s 2024–25 depth chart, while his 200 IM would have been fourth. His 100 back and 200 fly would have ranked fifth, his 200 free and 200 back sixth, and his 100 fly 13th.
At the 2025 A-10 conference meet, where ‘A’ and ‘B’ finals are offered, Harter’s best time in the 400 IM would have put him 13th after prelims and into the consolation final. It took times of 49.01 (100 fly), 49.38 (100 back), 1:50.96 (200 fly), 1:49.76 (200 back), 1:51.52 (200 IM), and 1:40.69 (200 free) to make the top 16 and score in his other top events.
Harter is currently the only publicized commit in the Patriots’ class of 2030.
