Vanderbilt Gets Verbal Commitment from Summer Brown of Carmel Swim Club

Summer Brown from the Carmel Swim Club has verbally committed to Vanderbilt, according to her club coach Chris Plumb. The Western High School senior is the defending Indiana High School runner-up in the 200 yard free, her best event, with a 1:49.30.

She’s also been a 51.3 in the 100 yard free. Her 50 free flat-start times aren’t great, but with no Western relays qualifying for state, she didn’t get a chance to swim that race in a relay on a full taper, but based on her sectional splits she can probably go under 24 seconds in that race as well.

The Commodores brought in a solid recruiting class to begin this fall, even though they’ll eventually have a bit of a gap in their roster owed to having only a single swimmer in their sophomore class. Brown, though, should immediately be on the Vanderbilt 400 and 800 free relays.
