KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Jan. 16, 2022) – The Mariners men’s swimming & diving team grabbed first-place in 12 of the 16 scored events and picked up a convincing 194-100 victory Sunday afternoon at O’Hara Hall pool over Division I St. Francis (NY). USMMA put up nine season best times after posting 30 yesterday against Coast Guard.

Below are the list of Mariners who secured wins at the dual meet:

  • Matthew Mizell (Merritt Island, Fla.), Nathan Mathes (Anacortes, Wash.)Will Schneider (Canton, Ohio), and David McCranie  (Woodbridge, Va.) combined for a time of 1:35.13 in the 200-yard medley relay.
  • Mizzell touched first in the 100 back with a mark of 51.72 seconds
  • Mathes picked up the win by just .22 seconds in the 100 breaststroke, hitting the wall in 1:00.71
  • McCranie took the 50-yard freestyle spring in 21.66 seconds
  • Devin Dyer (Brandon, Fla) topped the 1-meter with a score of 258.60
  • Mizzell’s third win came in the 200 backstroke in 1:55.84
  • Oliver Austin (Essex, Vt.) closed strong in the 200 breast to win with a time of 2:12.21
  • Schneider clocked in at 52.27 seconds in the 100-yard fly
  • Brendan Griffiths(Easton, Pa.) topped the field in the 3-meter dive with a score of 252.60
  • Andrew Turbyfill (Fredricksburg, Va.) led a trio of Mariners in the 200-yard individual medley, hitting the wall in 2:00.32
  • Daniel Todd (Columbia, S.C.)Daniel Scherrer (Wellesley, Mass.), Schneider, and McCranie combined to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a dramatic finish, finishing in 1:26.43

The Mariners are back in action Saturday, January 22 for the Skyline Conference Championship where they will look to defend their crown as conference champions.

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Jan. 16, 2022) – The USMMA women’s swimming & diving team won eight of the days 16 events but came up just short Sunday against Division I St. Francis (NY). The Mariners put up nine season best times on the day and had a chance to pick up the victory heading into the last event.

Below are the list of Mariners who secured wins at the dual meet:

  • Elise Dahlke (Brownsburg, Ind.) hit the wall in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:30.77
  • Chase Massey (Friendswood, Texas) took the 50-yard freestyle sprint in 25.78 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 56.29 seconds
  • Kristin Browne (Massapequa, NY) won the 1-meter dicing event with a score of 212.10
  • Camden Martin (Olympia, Wash.) top time in the 200 back was 2:18.15
  • Hannah Taylor (Owings Mills, Md.) 3-meter diving win racked up 203.85 points
  • Emmy Higgins (Needham, MA) notched a time of 2:15.22 in the 200-yard individual medley
  • Dahlke, Emma Clarkson (San Antonio, Texas), Kristina Defoor (Tucson, Ariz), and Massey grabbed the win in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:26.43

The Mariners are back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Hunter College for a 6 p.m. start on the road.
