UNC Asheville Women Edge Out Gardner-Webb In CCSA Matchup

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – UNC Asheville swim and dive defeated conference rival Gardner-Webb, 134.5-125.5, Friday evening at the Bost Pool in Boiling Springs, N.C.

Skylar Rogan claimed nine points for the Bulldogs with a first place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:56.11. Nora Segurola Larrinaga earned three more points for the Bulldogs in the event with a time of 1:58.62.

Catherine Allen grabbed the top spot in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:07.76. Anna Nabors and Aleta Jewell claimed the third and fourth spots in the event with times of 2:16.05 and 2:17.42, respectively.

Bela Stuart Vieira added to the Bulldogs’ point total with a first place finish in the 100 freestyle and a second place finish in the 50 freestyle.

Nora Segurola Larrinaga secured nine points for UNC Asheville with a first place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:06.79.

The Bulldogs took the top two spots in the 200 breaststroke. Christina Marshall claimed the top spot with a time of 2:31.25 while Amelia Ham finished second with a time 2:32.97.

Skylar Rogan grabbed her second first place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:08.50. Adee Weller was right on her heels with a time of 5:10.34 and a second place finish. Rogan’s time was 20 seconds faster than the third place finisher.

Catherine Allen and Anna Nabors secured the second and third place finishes in the 100 butterfly with times of 59.58 and 1:01.28, respectively.

Madison Rogan and Christina Marshall earned valuable points for the Bulldogs in the 200 IM with third and fourth place finishes. Rogan earned a time of 2:11.24 while Marshall wasn’t far behind with a time of 2:14.28.

The quartet of Delaney CarltonJessie FrankBela Stuart Vieira and Nora Segurola Larrinaga secured the victory for the Bulldogs with a win in the final event of the night. The four swimmers earned a valuable 11 points in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:37.27 to give UNC Asheville the 134.5-125.5 conference victory.

The Bulldogs have a quick turnaround as they will take on Brenau at 12 p.m. Saturday at the Buncombe County Schools Aquatic Center.

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb women’s swimming team had seven event wins Friday evening, but would drop a narrow 134.5-125.5 decision to CCSA foe UNC Asheville inside Bost Pool.

Action began with the 200-yard medley relay, which saw the team of Kayla SmithJessi SnoverAudrey Robinson, and Alyssa Church clock in at 1:48.85 to finish first.

In the 400-yard IM, Mary Traylor led everyone with a time of 4:31.74, followed by Spencer Lucas in second at 4:32.86.

Alyssa Church placed second in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 1:58.53.

In the 100-yard backstroke, Delaney Willette timed in at 59.95 seconds to earn a first-place result.  Kayla Smith timed in at third place at 1:01.52.

Jessi Snover led the Runnin’ Bulldogs in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 1:06.69 to finish first.  Jennifer Jackson timed in at 1:11.32 to take home a third-place result.

Mary Traylor timed in at 2:07.97 in the 200-yard butterfly to place second overall.

In the 50-yard freestyle, Audrey Robinson paced the field with a time of 24.52 seconds.  Blake Broullire tied for third place, clocking in at 25.37 seconds.

In the 100-yard freestyle, Blake Broullire finished second, timing in at 54.18 seconds.

Spencer Lucas led GWU in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:07.30.  Delaney Willette followed with a time of 2:07.88 to place third.

Marguerite Sesti was Gardner-Webb’s top performer in the 200-yard breaststroke, touching the wall at 2:34.00 to place third.

In the 500-yard freestyle, Hannah Carter finished in third place with a time of 5:28.26.

Jessi Snover claimed the 100-yard butterfly title, timing in at 57.20 seconds.

Spencer Lucas led the way in the 200-yard IM, placing first with a time of 2:08.65.  Mary Traylor finished second, clocking in at 2:10.59.

The event wrapped up with the 200-yard freestyle relay, in which the quartet of Audrey RobinsonBlake BroullireJennifer Jackson, and Jessi Snover placed second, timing in at 1:38.01.

Gardner-Webb returns to action on Friday, November 22, taking part in the three-day Fall Frenzy Invite in Charlotte, N.C.
