The Silver team took the first event, the 200 medley relay, but the Blue team jumped out to an early lead by taking the top spot in the next six events. The Silver team wasn’t going away as they won four of the last five events, including the 400 freestyle to claim the 108-102 win for the Silver team.

The meet also featured 15 Bulldog alumni that returned to Asheville to show their support of the current Bulldog team. The alumni also had the opportunity to return to the pool as they competed with each other in three events throughout the day.

The Bulldogs will return to the pool next weekend as they will compete against Queens, Davidson and Georgia Southern at 5:30 p.m., Friday, September 27, at the Levine Center in Charlotte, N.C. The UNC Asheville divers will compete against Davidson and Georgia Southern at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 28, at the Cannon Pool in Davidson, N.C.

“We learned a lot today, especially about our newest team members. It was so great to see the Blue and Silver teams be so competitive with each other. We definitely have opportunities for improvement in technique and race strategy, but it was great to have the entire meet come down to the very last relay.”

“Having15 alums show up for an alumni weekend is very impressive for such a young program. We appreciate all of them spending their time and energy to come to Asheville and see each other.”

“We are extremely excited to kick off the dual meet season next weekend at Queens University along with Georgia Southern and Davidson.”

Elizabeth Lykins, Head Coach, UNC Asheville Swim and Dive

“It was fun to watch everyone race so well; I had so much fun with all of my teammates. Go Blue team! It was also really exciting to have so many alums come back and race as well.”
