UNC Asheville Builds Women’s Swimming Program – College Recruiting Video

UNC Asheville reinstated their Division I Women’s Swim Team after a thirty year hiatus. The program began at the start of the 2012-2013 school year, led by Head Coach Elizabeth Lykins. The team has come quite far since their inaugural team of 8 athletes.

This past season, the team was 19 members strong and boasted a record breaking season. At the 2015 Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Conference Championships, the Bulldogs scored 422 points. Their previous best was 135 points. By the end of the meet, the team set 10 new varsity records and 5 new freshman records.

The Blue & White will have 29 swimmers in the 2015-2016 season, as they are welcoming 12 freshman to the team. The team and coaches have high hopes for what they can accomplish in their fourth season.

Senior Captain Galen Broido, a Marketing major and Economics minor, was enrolled in a Promotions Management course for the spring 2015 semester. Broido, along with her group mates Mandi Melton, Shayla Hensley and Lexi Banks created a recruitment ad for the Women’s Swim Team for their term project.

All video recording, audio recording, script-writing and editing were completed by Broido, Melton, Hensley and Banks.
