UC San Diego Gets Verbal from Texas Standout Morgan King

Morgan King, a senior at Highland Park High School in Dallas TX has verbally committed to swim for the UCSD Tritons beginning in 2014-15.

King is a talented breaststroker and IMer who helped lead the Highland Park Scots to the Texas 4A State Championship. She finished third in the 200 IM and fifth in the 100 breast and was a member of the runner-up 400 free relay team whose time qualified for All-American consideration.

Morgan King swims for Coach Mook Rhodenbaugh on the Dallas Mustangs, where she has been training since moving to Texas two years ago. Prior to that she was a member of Coto Coyotes in Southern California for ten years, swimming for Coach Todd Conrad. Her 200 IM is 2:06 and 100/200 breasts are 1:05/2:22. All those time are within, or very near, their respective top ten marks at UCSD.

King is a member of USA Swimming’s Scholastic All-America team and of the National Honor Society. She is also currently captain of the Highland Park High School team. She told SwimSwam, “I chose UCSD because of the phenomenal coaches, the tight knit team and for its excellent academics.

“The location is ideal, as well. UCSD just felt like home.”
